It's time for summer tune-ups and bike fits! Get your bike and your body ready to log some miles. Basic Cleaning is $25
Bicycle tune ups start at $50 and fittings are $75. A well fit bike is a comfortable bike. If you are comfortable you will ride more and faster. Call today to set an appointment. We Moved!

We have moved to the front of the building sharing the same address of 2311 S Street. We now boast a small parking lot and street access. Swing by and say hi but please excuse the mess for the next week or so as we settle in to our new space.

With the move comes a new business Whitworth Metals. This branch has been growing slowly since we opened and now commands a full day scheduled into the week. This means that on Tuesdays I will be scheduling non-emergency repairs for the following day.

The new hours are

Whitworth Cycles Inc. is proud to announce we will are now able to build lugged frames. We picked up some tube sets and all the parts needed for brazing. This also includes single speed drop outs. Here I am replacing the drop outs on an old Rock Hopper with some nice disc ready tabs.

About Whit Brooks

Whit was born and raised in Richmond, Virginia. Spending his spare time outdoors he developed a passion for mountain biking around the James River and in the Blue Ridge Mountains. In college, while studying photography at Hampden-Sydney he found friends that were into mountain biking and racing and ended up doing a few races and having a great time. Sophomore year he picked up a Tom Kellogg Spectrum Titanium road bike from a friend that ran a local shop. In 2005 he moved to California with his wife Emily and managed Bicycle Chef Bicycles. In 2006, inspired by his Spectrum, he spent a few weeks camping out in Ashland, OR while getting certified in Titanium frame building by Jim Kish at The United Bicycle Institute. While managing Bicycle Chef, he learned the business of running a bicycle shop and made lots of friends in the Sacramento cycling community. One of these friends happened to have a space available in a warehouse and propositioned Whit, saying that it would be a great place to build bicycles. One year later it has turned from a small welding studio into a full retail bicycle shop, performing bicycle repairs as well as building bicycles and other artistic metal work pieces, including patio enclosures for restaurants, and signs for residential communities. He also enjoys ham sandwiches, Munster cheese and lots of mayonnaise.

Frame Repair / Welding

The shop rate for welding is $75. Any design or redesign( as it may be) is extra and will be charge accordingly.

We can weld just about anything you want within reason. (Any unreasonable projects will be evaluated and are usually not turned down, but we will let you know that you are crazy.)

I have an Anvil Journeyman Frame Jig which is a work of art in itself. It ensures that all my frame projects are accurate and consistent every time.

We will be able to braze and build lugged frames and forks in the near future.

Upcoming Events

We will be providing a series of Clinics for Touchstone club members at Pipeworks starting in September.

September 5th clinic for Touchstone will go over removing wheels and fixing flats.
September 12th clinic for Touchstone will be focusing on drafting properly in a paceline and more importantly when it is acceptable to draft another cyclist.

Starting in October we will continue our clinics for the NorCal AIDS Challenge.

Whitworth Cycles, Inc. is a full service bike shop, specializing in custom welding: new bicycle frames and frame repair, accessories, bicycle maintenance, and refurbishing vintage bicycles. We also do custom gates, railings, arbors and bike racks.

Our goal, through community outreach is to educate as many riders as possible, keep them riding and keep them safe.

I would like for there to exist in Sacramento a cycling network that consists of multiple shops, teams and individuals working together to advance cycling though education and outreach.
